POSTER COMPETITION 2012
Conditions of Entry
1. Entrants are to submit an illustration that reflects the spirit of the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival, a festival that includes choirs and instrumental groups.
2. The illustration must be presented to the following exact specifications:
a. Presented on white cartridge or similar quality paper. (Do not mount on card.)
b. Paper size must be A3, 420mm high x 297mm wide. The image size on this paper must be 344mm high x 243mm wide.
c. Paper orientation must be portrait (vertical) presentation.
d. All or any number of colours may be used EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING: reflective foils, metallic pigments like gold and silver, or fluorescent paints and dyes. Pastel or paint is the recommended media to use.
e. The illustration must NOT include any wording.
f. The artist’s signature should be included in an appropriate place on the illustration.
3. It is suggested that artists aim to:
a. Keep the artwork simple.
b. Use clear, well-defined shapes.
c. Work towards a pleasing arrangement.
4. The illustration will be judged according to the manner in which the student reflects the spirit of the Festival. The names of the judges will remain confidential until the conclusion of the competition.
5. Entries close on 26 May, 2012.
6. Each entry must be attached to an official entry form with all details completed clearly.
7. The entry form must be signed by the artist who must be currently attending a primary or intermediate school.
8. All entries must have been specifically designed for this competition and must be the sole work of the school student who signs the entry statement as the artist.
9. One prize will be awarded.
10. The illustration will be incorporated into the poster, advertisement and programme cover for the Festival. The Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival Association (Inc.) reserves the right to make use of the winning poster illustration art work at its discretion. Entry in this competition affirms acceptance of this condition.
11. Should there be no entry of sufficient merit, then the judges reserve the right to make no award. If there is no award made, there will not be a prize.
