Suggest a song for the Massed Choirs
It is not easy selecting songs for the massed choirs of the Music Festival. There are so many competing interests to bear in mind including the range of ability between choirs, the range of experience of choir directors, the age range of the children from Year 5 to Year 8, cultural issues, the need to balance new material with old favourites, and our continuing desire to feature New Zealand composers and content.
Another important consideration is copyright...the cost of performing material has to be reasonable, and obtainable! The pursuit of permission to perform copyright material occupies a great deal of the Musical Director's time.
While the conductors of the Music Festival enjoy the challenge of locating suitable songs, they are always willing to consider suggestions from other choir conductors or teachers. So, here's the way that you can send any suggestion that you may have directly to the conductors of the Music Festival.
