Special Groups at the Festival  
As well as the massed school choirs, the Festival showcases talented singers and instrumentalists who have been selected by audition. The following groups perform at the Festival:
Junior Choir Junior Choir
A group of approximately 100 Year 5 & 6 pupils. The Junior Choir helps provide harmonies and parts against the massed choirs during each performance of the Festival as well as singing a bracket of songs by itself in the first half of each performance. » More details
 
Senior Choir Senior Choir
A group of approximately 100 Year 7 & 8 pupils with unbroken voices. The Senior Choir helps provide harmonies and parts against the massed choirs during each performance of the Festival as well as singing a bracket of songs by itself in the first half of each performance. » More details
 
Orchestra Orchestra
A complete symphony orchestra composed of pupils from Year 5 - 8. The Orchestra plays a bracket of items in the second half of each night's performance, and accompanies the massed choirs for the final few songs each evening. » More details
 
Concert Band Concert Band
A large wind, brass and percussion group composed of pupils from Year 5 - 8. The Concert Band plays a bracket of items in the first half of each night's performance, and usually accompanies the massed choirs for one or two songs immediately after this.

Recorder Ensemble Recorder Ensemble
An ensemble of descant, treble, tenor and bass recorders players in Years 5 - 8. The Recorder Ensemble plays a bracket of items in the first half of each evening's performance. » More details
 
An individual may participate in only one of these Special Groups. Participation requires a commitment to all the rehearsals and performances involved and therefore, before applying to participate in a Special Group, potential participants (and their parents and teachers) should read carefully and fully understand the commitments and obligations.
